What is Usui / Holy Fire® Reiki?
Holy Fire® Reiki is being introduced by the International Center for Reiki Training. It is both powerful and gentle and provides purification, healing, empowerment and guidance. Holy Fire® Reiki is a combination of traditional Usui Reiki and a contemporary evolution of Reiki. Holy Fire® is included as part of our Usui Reiki classes and has also been added to Karuna Reiki® training.
“It’s as if God has breathed new life into Reiki.” Laurelle Shanti Gaia
The energy is noticeably refined and comes from a higher level of consciousness than any energy we have encountered before. It is also more effective. Some of its attributes include:
“Holy Fire® is demonstrating so many more qualities and benefits and is more refined and coming from a higher level of consciousness than any other healing energy we have experienced. And in addition, it continues to develop and appears to have a tremendous potential to become ever more helpful and beneficial.” William Rand
Is Holy Fire Reiki® associated with any religion?
No. Holy Fire® Reiki works with all religions or no religion. The use of the word holy in the name Holy Fire® is not religious in meaning. The word holy has as its root meaning to be whole and complete and this is how it is used in Holy Fire.® Therefore, Holy Fire® is a spiritual energy that creates wholeness through purification, healing, empowerment and guidance.
To be spiritual is to practice and improve your state of being and life. To be mystic is to step into the spiritual fire itself and become the flame. Krista Berg
Should I upgrade to Holy Fire® Reiki?
Holy Fire® Reiki is new and many Reiki Masters will continue to teach and practice Usui/Tibetan Reiki. The Tibetan symbols and violet breath will continue to work just as they always have for those who do not take Holy Fire® Reiki. The teaching manuals for the Usui/Tibetan Reiki lineage will continue to be available on www.reiki.org for those who choose to continue their Reiki practices with this lineage. It is not required that a person change to Holy Fire® Reiki. Holy Fire® Reiki completely honors free will and supports Reiki practitioners of all Reiki lineages. We encourage you to follow your inner guidance and do what you feel is right for you.
Because of the significant improvements of this system, those who have begun teaching it have found that their classes are filling up more quickly and that they are teaching more students than ever before.
What are Ignitions?
The Holy Fire® Reiki attunements are now called “ignitions.” Since the first experiences with Holy Fire® we have noted that the attunements for the Usui Master and Karuna levels are considerably different from what we have previously experienced. William Rand was guided that because of this, they need a new name. We have been told to call them ignitions. The attunements for the Healing Attunement, Reiki I&II and Reiki Master are done in a similar way as they were in the past with the teacher physically interacting with the student, but substituting the Holy Fire® master symbol for the violet breath and Tibetan symbols, which makes the process much easier.
The change in the attunement method provides a significant improvement in the quality of Reiki energy the student receives. And because it doesn’t involve the use of the violet breath and Tibetan symbols, it is a much easier attunement to do. This is important for many students who have not taught because they found the violet breath process too difficult to do. Complete instructions are in the Usui / Holy Fire® manuals.
Can I just get the ignitions to upgrade to Holy Fire® or do I have to take the entire class?
Some students who already have Master or Karuna have asked if they could come by and get the ignitions to upgrade to Holy Fire.® Because of the nature of the training, this isn’t possible. The Holy Fire® Reiki training needs to be done over a period of three days in either the Usui/Holy Fire®/Master or the Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki® training. This is a necessary time period, even for those who are already Usui and Karuna Reiki® Masters. There are several reasons for this. First of all, there is the time period necessary after the pre-ignition in order for the purification process to take place prior to the first ignition. This is a minimum of 24 hours. There are two Holy Fire® ignitions and the Healing Fire ignition, plus three beautiful Holy Fire® experiences, which must be spread out over the additional two days. In addition, the Holy Fire® training creates a significant shift in the student’s energy in which restrictive patterns are replaced with Holy Fire.® This shift takes time and also needs to be done in a supportive environment in the presence of the teacher and other students. As you can see from the description, the content of the Usui/Holy Fire®/Master and Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki® training has evolved with much new material.
What is the Lineage?
Holy Fire® has no lineage. Lineage as it is used with Reiki refers to the physical person who originally channeled the energy. No one originally did this. Therefore, the lineage of Usui/Holy Fire® Reiki Ryoho will remain with Usui Sensei. The lineage for Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki® will remain with William Lee Rand. But we need to always indicate that the Holy Fire® does not have a lineage.
What are the requirements to teach Holy Fire® Reiki?
Are Reiki guides part of Holy Fire® Reiki?
The Holy Fire® itself provides guidance. The purpose of spirit guides is to guide us to Source. Holy Fire® is the direct connection to Source. You may find that guides from the third heaven (dwelling place of Source) may still bring you messages, as they are messengers of the Holy Fire.® If you are already working with guides that are compatible with Holy Fire,® you will still find them helpful. As in all phases of our spiritual journey, guides come and go as we heal and grow. (answered by Laurelle Gaia) Holy Fire® respects free will and it is your choice about guides.
If I am already an Usui Reiki Master, do I have to take Usui Holy Fire® Reiki I & II in order to attend an Usui Holy Fire® Reiki Master, or Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki® class?
No, you do not need to repeat Reiki I & II as long as you were previously attuned to the traditional Usui Reiki symbols in level II.

What does the III mean after Holy Fire®?
This new system is continuously being upgraded; we are currently on upgrade III. You learn the current upgrade and do not need to have studied the prior versions. (As an analogy, it is similar to Windows 10 as an upgrade.)
Are there new symbols that come with this training? Additionally who was involved in the development of this system and what is the story behind it’s development?
There is one new symbol and some shifting out of the Tibetan symbols. Just as Karuna Reiki® came on the scene in 1995 and new frequencies were introduced to help us learn, heal and grow along our spiritual path, Holy Fire® is arising now. I find it interesting that similar energies relating to sacred flames, are cropping up in frameworks other than Reiki just as Holy Fire® Reiki is coming to us too. The time is obviously right.
So to answer who is involved in the development of Holy Fire® Reiki, some in the ICRT had inklings of its energy for a year or more but it hadn’t expressed itself clearly enough to know how to use it. Then in January, 2014, William Rand had a session with a spiritual advisor he had been seeing for 19 years and who several of the other ICRT teachers had also been seeing. In this session he was told he would be teaching a new energy in the class he was to teach the next day. He was given the name of the energy, how to draw the symbol and an attunement for it. Then over the course of the class he had additional sessions prior to class in which it was further explained how to teach Holy Fire® Reiki. Jessica Miller, one of our ICRT teachers was in this class. William also shared information about Holy Fire® Reiki with myself, Colleen Benelli and Karen Harrison, each of whom also received the attunements (which we now call ignitions) and instructions on how to teach.
Before announcing it to the Reiki community, it was taught to 250 students and found that the benefits remained consistent for all who took the class. Over time, additional instructions from the same source have been received to further develop the system. To be more specific, the energy of Holy Fire® Reiki and the instructions on how to teach it come from the Holy Spirit. With this in mind, it’s important to understand that there is no religious connection implied by this. However, what it does is create a direct connection to Source that is free of dogma or required beliefs or the need follow a leader. (answered by Laurelle Gai
Reiki I and II are taught together during a two day intensive in a loving, sacred way. You will receive placements (attunements) to the Reiki I and II energy, which allow you to access greater healing energy.
All the information and techniques are covered including:
The class is a combination of lecture, discussion and experience. Practice time includes giving and receiving a complete Reiki treatment using all the hand positions, the self -treatment, practice using all the level II symbols including distant healing, and practice using all the Japanese Reiki Techniques mentioned above.
While practice takes place during the class, please set aside additional time to practice after the class is over. The suggested time could be a few hours a week for several weeks, or a smaller amount of time over a longer time frame, to practice Reiki with one, or more, people from your Reiki class or with members of your family or friends. This additional practice is necessary to gain the experience and confidence you need to fully utilize the Reiki training.
Prerequisite: none. Class manual and certificate included.
Reiki Kids – ages 6-12
Reiki Teen – ages 12-16
In these classes, children and teens will learn about Reiki, which is natural healing energy, and how to use it for themselves, others, pets, and plants. They will get a children’s or teen’s manual and have fun with subtle energy.
In this class, kids will:
The complete Reiki III Usui/Holy Fire III Master ignition.
Instruction is given on the Usui/Holy Fire III system of attunements and ignitions. Other variations are also outlined in the class manual. Over half the class time is used for practice so the student becomes confident in administering Reiki attunements and ignitions. Students practice giving attunements on each other so that each student receives many attunements. The Healing attunement and Aura Clearing is given and received by all students. This class is a powerful healing experience.
While the content of the class will allow anyone to pass the ability to do Reiki on to others and to teach if one chooses, many take the class for their own use or to use with family and friends.
Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® is a new form of Reiki introduced by the ICRT. It is both powerful and gentle and provides purification, healing, empowerment and guidance.
